The recent trends have shown that the Builders Kochi are selling their projects on the grounds that they implement Vastu Shastra , the ancient art and science of structural engineering, as the backbone for their building designs. According to this concept the Earth and its magnetic fields have a tremendous effect on the emotional and physical well being of humans and the impact is also extended to the homes that they reside in and build.

As per Vaastu, the directions of East and West are important as far as obtaining the energy from the sun is concerned. The importance of the directions of the North and the South lies in the flow of magnetic waves which flows from North Pole to South Pole. Therefore southward portion of every building should be higher than the northward portion. The principles of Vastu Shastra intend to balance these effects, by emphasizing the need to pay attention to the direction and size of the homes. Proper positioning of the building and its components such as drawing room, study room, bedrooms, dining room, kitchen and bathroom is planned using Vastu Shastra. They even take care of the alignment of furniture in the unit if it is a pre-furnished apartment. The open sky has a great influence. The effect of terrestrial-energies can be felt uninterruptedly. Buildings prove a barrier to the effects of open sky. Therefore, the importance of roofs or lawns gets emphasized. This is one of the reasons why traditionally every house in India used to have an open space (Court Yard) in the center of the house. It provided the dwellers not only the open sky but also sunlight and cross-ventilation of air.
